Mmmm, back in the water!
Today I swam 4×25 warm-ups, including a couple breast strokes. Then I decided to do intervals. I tried relaxed at first, but I couldn’t seem to keep the pace down (!). Go figure.
I tried the pyramid, and it worked a little, but I could feel my form going a little–so I really slowed down toward the end. I haven’t been in water since my triathlon a week and a half ago. I suppose it’s only natural that I would be a little off.
I ended up doing 5×50, then a straight 150. I was also working on keeping my legs more streamlined, keeping my recovery up and my arms in the correct position as they exited and entered the water. I suppose some day I’ll make my poor sister give me feedback again. She’s such a good sport. My times were between :58 and as slow as 1:05 during the pyramid. I had to share a lane most of the time, so I didn’t dillydally around to find out what my straight 150 was.
I ended the day with a 2×25 to end with 700. I felt good about that. It may not seem like much, but those pyramids will kill ya!
I need to review a few more sprint schedules to come up with something for me. There is so much variation out there. I hope to do a few 5Ks before the actual triathlon–as that is my worst sport of the three. I also want to do some spinning class–I really need to work on my power (or as the real triathletes call it, “watts”) Whatevvv I just need to build strength for those stupid hills!
Tomorrow I think I’ll stop by the store to get some goodies for my Mexico class, then do a longer run in the afternoon. Or lift weights. We shall see.
