Run

Molasses slow run.

Good heavens I despise staying in zones 1 and 2 for my base training. And since my triathlon is still 14.5 weeks off and I use a 12 week training schedule, I’ll be stuck in these zones for weeks!

My husband only has one more week of zone 1 and 2 base training and he’s already going crazy.

Mileage first, then speed. My coach is right, but wow is it annoying to have to walk up hills. At least I realized that my standing HR is 10 points lower (didn’t make a difference, though). So, today’s run was superslow and involved some walking as well. Dulcinea was rather annoyed until she realized that when I walk, she gets to sniff!

This afternoon, we’re heading over to another town to paddle with people from an Outdoor Adventure group that I just joined through MeetUp. Anyone out there ever joined a group on MeetUp? This is one that goes running, hiking, paddling, camping, whatever, just stuff active and outside. Perfect. Today we will meet them with two of our kayaks for a paddle.

Corazon and Nacimiento (L-R: hers and his)

My husband made me this beautiful kayak last year on the left which I named Corazon (see springrun.wordpress.com for the build). He built his a few years ago, named it Nacimiento (for [new] birth). Photograph taken in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in July 2011. Cannot wait to get into my boat today!

update:
I believe I get the nimrod of the year award. I had my HR Zones set too low on my Garmin! Thanks Coach for figuring them out for me. I should have programmed them in that day. I would have had a better run Saturday morning!
