I headed to the pool alone today, poor hubby still cannot shake his head crap (pain in the sinuses, stuffiness without the runniness, and general blahness). I cannot either, but he’s got it far worse. I just get pain in my left sinus every day for a while–nothing some Advil cannot temporarily dampen.
I planned to do distance today, not drills or speedwork. I need some speedwork–I’ve slowed down in the past couple of weeks:
That’s okay. I’m happy to say that I completed 900 yards without stopping–something I doubt I could have done last year. My asthma started kicking in about 800, but I just kept going. I am excited to see how far ahead of last year (at this point) that I am. Last year at this time, I could not run 2 miles, much less a 5k. I am even more motivated now to shoot for the 10k before I hit 50. We have something called the “Governor’s Cup” in November. They have a 5k and 10k. I’m going to sign up for the 10k! I cannot believe I just said that.
In the meantime, I am counting down to the State Farm 5k (27 days) and the O’Rourke Triathlon (two months). I am getting excited!
Thanks, endorphins! I’m in a good mood thanks to you!
Sister, thanks for starting me on this journey by showing joy and enthusiasm and excitement about Triathlon. . . and for doing my first one with me in 2008–even if there were torrential rains (and a tornado the night before!). And thanks, Coach Dave, for getting me along this far. Someone actually commented about how smooth I look in the water–that’s a big thank YOU!
Congratulations on your progress. It’s an awesome feeling to look back to see progress isn’t it. You’re going to smash the 10km run
Thanks!!!
